Notably, Pablo Picasso also created a painting late in his life titled "Head of a Man with Straw Hat" in 1971, which art historians and curators note is an homage and explicit reference to van Gogh’s distinctive style and his famous straw hat self-portraits. Through refined lines and nuanced shading, the portrait captures Van Gogh’s intense gaze and distinctive straw hat, translating historical subject matter through a modern lens.
